Breakfast Club Remake - Evaluation

Breakfast Club Remake

The audio which was used throughout the song, was very well placed by getting rid of any necessary sounds which may have been recorded. By getting the song that was used in the film and using it, makes it seem like it really is the Breakfast Club remake video.

By using titles instead of using a still image of a clock, a digital clock was created through the use of titles which makes the film seem like a modern adaptation.

The audio was manipulated by making the sound fade out at certain bits so some dialogue could be heard or certain sounds could be heard which is shown in the bottom right of the picture in the green audio.

It was fairly difficult to create the title sequence as there were two different titles which was used one of which was yellow typeface on black screen, yellow typeface on still images and yellow typeface on a moving image.

The decisions that were made on deciding what font to use was to give it that Breakfast Club feel, and the typeface that was and size of the titles were decided based on which size and typeface would standout.

The font that was chosen does suit it as it gives it that Saturday detention feel and it does set the tone for the film.

The titles are very well integrated as they appear at the bottom of the screen instead of the middle which was the case in the original film.

There are many things that I would do differently if I were to do this practical again one which would include that all the planning is completed before filming and any changes that need to be made happen quickly. The good things which happened very well is the fact that there was really high quality audio capture. There were many good shots that were taken.

However, the problems that was encountered was that the ND filter was turned on therefore most footage that was taken became very dark. There was another problem with timing as some shots took longer than they should have which may have been a result of some debating and arguing in terms of how the shot should be done, from what angle and in what way. This may be result of not being well organised so next time all planning must be completed.

When this moving image was recorded, the way the camera moved around was quite erratic as the recording was not a smooth glide but rather the camera not being handled properly making the shot look as if it's going up and down.

Most of the shots was that of the entrance of the characters which may slightly differ however, so next time more variety would be good.

Though it was a good idea to use a digital time to give it that modern adaptation but it may have caused it differ too much from the original.

To improve the shot, it would have to be recorded again BUT without the ND filter on as the footage is far too dark.

I learned from this experience is before shooting is done, the camera must be checked and make sure that the ND filter is off. I also have learned that before filming is done, I must know what do and when in which shots to avoid wasting time.
